Engagement Ring Trends We’re Loving Right Now at Luxe Jewel Exchange

Over the years, we’ve seen a lot of engagement ring trends come and go. But lately, what’s getting us really excited is how personal things are getting. Brides and grooms aren’t just picking a ring from the case anymore. They’re creating pieces that reflect who they are, where they come from, and what they care about. And we’re all for it.

If you’re thinking about getting engaged or you’re helping someone else pick out a ring, here are a few of the biggest trends we’re seeing here at the shop—plus how we can help you bring your vision to life.

Custom Design is Everything

Hands down, the biggest shift we’ve seen is how many couples are opting for custom engagement rings. And it makes total sense—this is a piece of jewelry you’re going to wear every day. Why not make it feel exactly right?

Some people come in with a photo or Pinterest board, others start with a sketch, and some just have a feeling or story they want to capture. That’s where we come in.

Our custom design process is super collaborative. We’ll sit down with you to talk through what you like (and what you don’t), walk through some design options, and then create a 3D rendering so you can see exactly how your ring will look before we make it. We can even play with different metals, settings, and stones until it’s perfect.

Here in Mount Pleasant, we’ve noticed a lot of locals want rings that reflect a bit of Southern charm—think vintage-inspired details, soft curves, mixed metals, or even subtle coastal touches. If you want your ring to feel like you, we’ll help you get there.

Lab-Grown Diamonds Are Here to Stay

Another big shift? More and more couples are asking about lab-grown diamonds—and for good reason.

Lab-Grown diamonds are chemically identical to natural diamonds, but they’re grown in a lab rather than mined from the earth. That means they’re more sustainable, more ethical, and more budget-friendly. You can often get a bigger or higher-quality stone for the same price.

We carry both lab-grown and mined diamonds here at Luxe, and we’re happy to show you the differences (hint: there really aren’t many when it comes to how they look). The choice comes down to your values, your budget, and what feels right for you.

One couple from Daniel Island came in looking for a three-carat diamond ring, but didn’t want to break the bank. We showed them a few lab-grown options, and they ended up with a stunning ring that looked just like the one they’d dreamed about—without the stress of overspending.

If you’re curious about lab-grown diamonds but not sure where to start, we’d love to walk you through it. No pressure, just real talk.

Redesigning Heirlooms is Our Favorite Kind of Project

This one’s close to our hearts. There’s something really special about taking a piece of jewelry that’s been in your family and giving it new life.

Maybe it’s your grandmother’s engagement ring or a cocktail ring your mom used to wear in the 80s. Whatever it is, we can help you turn it into something fresh that still honors where it came from.

Sometimes we keep the original stone and build a new setting around it. Other times we melt down the gold and reuse it in a brand-new design. Every project is different, and every one tells a story.

One of our favorite redesigns was a vintage marquise diamond that a client inherited from her aunt. She loved the stone but wanted a more modern look, so we helped her create a clean, bezel-set ring in yellow gold with a split shank band. It still felt like her aunt—but now it’s a ring she wears every single day.

If you’ve got an old piece tucked away in a drawer, bring it in. Let’s talk about what it could become.

What’s Trending in Style Right Now

Alongside all the customization, we’re seeing a few styles really take off this year:

  • Hidden halos – A little sparkle tucked underneath the center stone that you can only see from the side.
  • Toi et Moi rings – Two stones, usually different shapes or sizes, that represent two people coming together. So sweet.
  • Yellow and rose gold – Classic platinum is always popular, but warmer metals are definitely having a moment.
  • Pear and oval shapes – These stones feel elegant, modern, and just a little unexpected.

And let’s be honest—some people still love a classic round solitaire on a simple band. There’s nothing wrong with timeless.
